Gawande attributes success in medicine to 3 core qualities — diligence, doing right and ingenuity. He uses several personal stories and observations to illustrate each of these qualities. For instance, to demonstrate the importance of diligence, he tells a story about a man’s quest for eradicating Polio from India.
I recently read Atul Gawande’s book Better in which he uses stories from medicine to provide insights on how to do better at work. Here I attempt to place Gawande’s insights in the context of data science as I believe them to be equally applicable to our field.
